The Fybroc series 1500 thermoset are constructed with resin transfer molding (RTM) process for superior strength and corrosion resistance. Thermoset fiberglass reinforced plastic (FRP) pumps are increasingly being used in the pump industry due to their low weight, durability, custom properties. Thermoset is a material that cures or hardens into a engineered shape, through the reaction with a catalyst. Curing is an irreversible chemical reaction in which permanent cross-links are made between a the molecular level. The cross-links give the cured polymer a three-dimensional structure, as well as a higher degree of rigidity than prior to curing. An important benefit of a thermoset material will not re-melt or otherwise regain the properties it had before being cured. The self-priming, solids-handling trash pumps have been designed for economical, trouble-free operation making them ideally suited for a variety of applications including solids-laden liquids and slurries. The large volute design allows automatic repriming in a completely open system without the need for suction or discharge check valves.
Available in discharge sizes of three, four, six, eight and ten inches, this line of self-priming pumps boasts capacities to 3400 gallons per minute (214.5 liters per second) and heads to 148 feet (45 meters). Pumps four inches and larger are engineered to allow up to three-inch diameter spherical solids to pass through any critical area, including the recirculation port. Total Equipment recommends Sandpiper’s Pumps for abrasive slurries, suspended and non-suspended solids and line-size solids. These pumps have a large flow area to allow up to lie size solids to pass directly through the pump unlike the ball check valves that has much less flow area for solids to pass through. Additionally, the bottom discharge design helps prevent solids from settling in the unit.
The flap valve design provides for suction lift capabilities up to 24 feet in water. The diaphragm placement and flap valve seating combine to create a unit capable of suction lifts greater than ball valve pumps.
